There are three main types of towbar they are,

• Fixed Flange towbar
• Swan neck tow bar
• Detachable tow bars

Fixed towbars are the most common and allow for a range of accessories such as cycle carriers and caravan stabilizers to be easily fitted, the swan neck tow bar is a neat solution as you generally only see the towbar and the neck from the rear of the vehicle, this fitting will accept the alko stabilizer that is commonly found on modern caravans, detachable tow bars are becoming increasingly popular as the neck of the tow hitch can be removed maintaining the aesthetics of the rear of the car, when the detachable towbar is fitted if the vehicle does have reverse sensors when the neck is removed there is no way that the tow bar can impere the operation of the reverse sensor
At The Ice house we can supply towbars to both the trade and public, if you do wish to undertake the fitting yourself we are always here to advise in case of any difficulties, all of the tow bars that we supply come with the manufacturers original fitting instructions. Wiring instructions are included with the wiring kits, however these are only a guide and are not vehicle specific, for vehicle wiring colours you will need to refer to your individual manufacturer.

We are able to supply car specific wiring kits, these dedicated wiring kits come with all instructions for fitting and require minimal electrical connection to your vehicle. Some of the dedicated wiring kits do require the car dealer to program the functions to become fully active.
